Final Site.

These are screen shots of my final website, as you can see i have chosen block colour’s and black and yellow throughout my site and put black and yellow borders around all my images to link the whole site together.

The banners at the top establish what page you are on, they are big and bold and the black stands out from the yellow background. Each page besides the homepage includes photos that i have taken myself.

I have really enjoyed creating my website, it has taught me new skills in Dreamweaver and has helped me to develop my skills in Photoshop.

Progression…

I have visited Stokes Croft twice and taken a lot of images that i will be able to use for my website. There is so much graffiti and artwork in Stokes Croft that i would love to include all of it, but have gone through the images and only kept the best ones. The ones that are in focus and well framed and that show a sense of the artistic culture that surrounds Stokes Croft. Here is a screenshot of some of the images that i have chosen.

I took a photo of a sign that was painted onto a wall that said ‘Stokes Croft – Bristol’s Cultural Quarter,’ and i will use this as image on the opening page of my website. It is in black and yellow so i think this will shape the theme of the rest of my website. My photoshop skills are quite good to i think that i will be able to edit together a banner that i can put at the top of each of my pages.

Doing research into Stokes Croft, i came across the website of The Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft. Which had a lot of useful information on about the area and the community. It was partly used to promote events happening in Stokes Croft, and i feel like this would be a really good page for my website to let people know what there is to do. I will also include a page on the riots that happened this year as this was big news all around the country, plus a page on Banksy and the picture i took of the graffiti whilst i was there.

Final Decided Idea

After reading through the brief, i discovered that my idea of doing my website about Stokes Croft would fit the best. I visit there on a regular basis so it would be easy for me to take my own photographs and i am quite passionate about that style of artwork, so i would enjoy doing my project in the process.

I have been looking at websites that i would like to base my own on and i think that simple websites look the most effective and professional. I found a website that has given me some inspiration.

web design lecture 1. 30.09.10

Welcome to my first ever blog! I’m currently studying Creative Media at the University of Gloucestershire. Its a course that is divided into different modules and for my web design module im keeping this blog to showcase all the work im going to be doing throughout the year. For my assessment I need to create a website to learn the basic techniques about good layouts, structure, content etc. This is the place where you will be able to see the progress i’m making and the finished product. I have a few ideas as to what my website will be about..

  • An animation website, that will link in to another module on my course and i can combine the two. I will include animations i’ve done and try and show what my animation project will be about.
  • A blog about me. Things that i have been through in my life that have shaped me to who i am today. I am doing a digital story about this in another one of my lectures so again, i could link it in with that.
  • I am very passionate about a japanese animated film from producers called ‘Studio Ghibli.’ There are many films that have been made by them so i could write film reviews and my reasons for liking this particular genre of film.
  • I recently visited a place in Bristol called Stokes Croft. I found it really interesting because there was loads of graffiti everywhere and it looked more like art work than valdalism. There were two original Banksy’s here that are quite well known.
